tracks with my experience at a m&g this year. Brann and Troy were total class, Bill completed the assignment, and Brent wandered around muttering like a looney for a few minutes and then left the fans hanging. gotta be drugs taking their toll.

I see a lot of people trashing him as if he's always been a detriment, which is flat-out wrong. He was a fuckin' stud (if not also a fuckin' asshole / loose cannon) through at least the Hunter. At least, if not more, indispensable than even Brann to that point. Seen them many times live, and I never saw him a detriment, to include last year headlining over Gojira and years ago when Bill had to miss some gigs. Possibly I'm just lucky, but lets not do the thing where we drag the guy's career because he finally went too far.

I recall him being known as Brent "Danger" Hinds waaay before that. He, without a doubt and at the very least, could be considered the most erratic member of the band. He's always been--even publicly--kinda all over the place.

It's vaguely strange that it came to this after so long, but kinda not, at the same time.

Very talented, but his public celebrity buddie-ness with Bam Margera gives a pretty good hint at where his head's at (i.e. not conducive to bandmate functioning).

seems like Mastodon was an amazing break for him and a blessing for music fans. things could've gone way differently given how the world often treats people who think differently and don't fit as expected.
