when is kendrick this lazy with his rhymes? I mean, I'm sure you could find an instance, but generally he's not just rhyming up with up, fuck with fuck, nigga with nigga etc. He's no Black thought I give you that, but he's leagues above 50 cent imo.

Also thematically his scope and range is way bigger than 50 cent who only got 2 themes:

1. Started from the bottom now I'm here

2. All the bitches love me, all the boys wanna be me.

Ed's the one in this thread who's not embarrassing himself, other than taking Lambs' trolling seriously ofc

gotta say, as much as i enjoy this album, it doesn't hold a candle to good kid. good kid was concise but still said a lot and had some of the most gorgeous melodies and sharp political commentary of any hip hop album in recent memory. this obviously has that same scathing politic angle, and many would argue much more so, which is fine, but some of these songs get old fast imo. u, i, and mortal man are among his best songs and some of the best i've heard all year, but there are too many throwaways. for all its praise, wesley's theory is pretty boring. alright is flat-out annoying as hell, and king kunta is drab and also pretty grating. idk, the production on this is so sterile sometimes. so slick and groovy but ultimately homogeneous-sounding

it was 12 songs long and none of them were particularly long, barring sing about me, which was hands down the best song

The songs individually mightve been, but the album was still a whole hour long

an hour isn't that long. granted this is only 20 minutes longer, i still consider it much longer due to there being more filler

There's a huge difference between a 60 and 80 minute album

If this was 20 minutes shorter I'd most likely love it, but imo it's a bit too long for its own good
