Best LP: Mark the graves, a line, blackout, until it breaks, pretty much everything from meteora and HT cos they're all the same song

ats simply isn't the kind of stuff that made lp fans connect with the band. without the nostalgia factor these guys are literally nothing

ATS is their best for me, at the very least even someone who hates LP with a passion surely can't deny that it's a very interesting record

"without the nostalgia factor these guys are literally nothing"
Right? LP is a lot of people's first band/heavy band.
And ATS's highlights are fantastic but the duds are major duds.

Yeah. One thing you can commend them on is not making the same album over and over.

Their debut was the first CD I picked up

ATS for me. I was pretty blown away by how 'experimental' it was at the time for me, since all I listened to was pop lol. It still holds up as pretty experimental against a lot of stuff I listen to now tbh. I still buy each new CD that comes out, hoping they'll finally fulfil the potential they've always indicated at with their best songs, although without the nostalgia factor I probably would've lost hope by now lol

it was pretty 'experimental' for LP yeah haha, though relatively speaking its quite tame.

same haha, though The Hunting Party was fantastic, though in the way their first 2 records were rather than ATS

Yeah haha but some songs e.g. Blackout are just straight up weird, like I can't think of any other band/song that employs a keys intro before like a dubstep/rap/screaming section before an ambient pop outro, like wtf
The hunting party was a step in the right direction but way too many weak songs for me, they need to go along the hard rock/alt metal juxtaposed with ambience route a la mark the graves, that song is perfect

yeah Blackout is a bit nuts haha, in the best of ways. and fair enough, though any weak songs I can get past because they moved away from the style they adopted in Living Things, their worst album imo, to a style i can really get on board with
