The appreciation seems to be growing stronger throughout the years.
Sometimes, you just need a little Bizkit in your life...

I mean for many years one of the biggest reasons "critics" and others railed on Nu Metal at the time was Limp Bizkit. Back in the day a lot of people used to claim Limp Bizkit as the reason that Nu Metal is a bad genre. Even then Limp Bizkit was one of the few Nu Metal bands who weren't embarrassed to call themselves Nu Metal. It was just a combination of hate for the genre, and hate for Limp Bizkit.

10 years ago this site was completely allergic to nu metal. The genre had been on the decline for a while so the last scattered vestiges were scorned on as the cringe overgrown remnants of an already cringe genre. Nowadays it has aged further, as have its fans and critics, and people's perspectives have mellowed to a fermented nostalgia, as these things tend to do

Never got around to this one but the ratings here have inspired me to give this a jam. Agreed on Borland being a solid guitarist also

I feel a lot has to do with zoomers not having any type of context as to why millennial and gen Xers hated Nu Metal as much as they did, and thus why its seeing such a revival, I for one never hated the genre that much

It's always baffled me why most rap metal bands are pretty cheesy and awful and then there's RATM. There should be more benchmark examples like them. They are two genres with a strong rhythmic core
|
| |
I feel like ratm has a lot more political chutzpah to back up, so they put a lot more effort into their music to match it
|
| |
Awwww shitttt those two clips got me amped
