This is perfection, Motion Picture Soundtrack is indeed so beautiful. Listening to a lot of Homogenic recently made me realize how much Bjork's music must've influenced Thom to go in this direction. He had also said that Unravel is his all time favorite song.

The funny thing with Radiohead is that they've arguably never had an original idea in their entire career but it's the myriad and often disparate influences that they bring together that makes them so fascinating.

Radiohead are pretty original though, but they never get too abstract or anything, as weird as their music can be.

Aphex Twin too I think influenced this, especially the first two Selected Ambient Works albums.

"they've arguably never had an original idea in their entire career"

might be just fanboying here, but i'm genuinely not sure how you can believe this. not a single original idea, ever? their entire catologue is just them aping someone else's sound? you might be thinking of muse or some shit man.

I'd say it's a mix of original ideas and sheer talent/creativity that's helped them get to where they are
