wait do people actually dislike the plastic daisies lyric itself? always came off to me it was the way he delivers it that people didn't like

I think it's the delivery
Lyrics are fine

Also, this album's hooks have been living in my head rent-free ever since it came out. For all of the record's experimentation, the results are still catchy as hell

agreed i think this album easily has the catchiest hooks shadows has ever done
for all their commercial success i don't feel like they have a lot of truly catchy vocal melodies in their back catalog... and that the catchy aspects of their sound were more so the duel guitar parts and/or a tag line like in nightmare? at least among their hits

Idk I think all their albums outside of The Stage are super catchy. That might just be coz of how much I've listened to them though, 13 year old me had a deep fascination with these guys
The hooks on here are glorious though.

hmm i guess unholy confessions, afterlife, and the bat country verses are pretty catchy (again strictly talking their hits)
shadow's appeal/strengths to me were always his delivery and his charisma a la hetfield or anselmo, more so than what he did melodically
like i think corey taylor (probably his closest contemporary) generally writes stronger hooks though i prefer shadows's clean vocals

Brooks took this band to another level. I know you guys love your Rev, but the truth is the truth.

"Brooks took this band to another level. I know you guys love your Rev, but the truth is the truth."
i don't necessarily think so. they could have easily made this album and the stage with the rev or even arin. i love his work but i don't think its him who brought the band to this place

Alex dude the drumming is so much more diverse and expansive since Brooks came on board. Check out those ‘making of’ videos the band made for the songs Brooks was a part of. How do you even write that shit? How do you even play some of those parts? Dude is incredible and has blown me away. Very Peart like and Portnoyish at times, which is a really good thing.

"wait do people actually dislike the plastic daisies lyric itself"
crazy/daisy is a certifiably D.O.A. rhyme and his delivery only makes it worse

I mean hey, at least it's a more creative rhyme than the usual "reason/season" crap
