He could raise his voice like once though.

Now that you say it: This lacks vocal variety as well. He sings more or less the same melody in all songs while some "bling bling bling"-sound plays from start to end. Not saying this is bad, just nowhere near a 5 imo.

I mean the tone stays the same but there's definitely a lot of shifts in melody.

but it's really beautiful isn't it? i don't think he could've made this much more powerful with changing his singing style, it prolly would've made it sound a tad forced instead

Variety can be a good and a bad thing. On a project like this I feel that his restricted and honed in sound is best served over "changing things up".

Home Like NoPlace Is There by The Hotelier is also rather average instrumentally, but has beautiful lyrics and oooh the vocal delivery...I know different genre and stuff but it feels way more authentic than the vox on this album. Just the same mumbling on each track but I know why people can appreciate it so nvm.

Why would people expect his vocals to change from what they've always been?

I guess I just didn't notice when the music was a bit more varied.

Am I the only one who rarely gets through this without repeating Eugene a couple times? From an objective standpoint it's probably one of the weakest songs here but something about it hits me so hard.

I feel like Eugene covers all the themes within this album in its short time. If you wanted to show your friend one song from this album to show them what its about, 'Eugene' would be that song.

It's not that his voice should change but the melodies he's singing. They're more or less the same on each track.

Still, due to lyrics and the emerging feeling you should give your mom a hug as long as you can, this gets a 4 (might change).

yeah it's hard to pay attention on the vox when the music is freaking all-over-the-place like it was on his last few albums
