Do I try too hard to dislike things? Or do I not try hard enough to like them? Maybe both.

Only reason it isn't a 5 is because I don't really feel the need to return to it all that often lol

I’m an AlexanderMR type when it comes to movies—my Letterboxd has five 5-Star ratings and so many 2.5s/3s—but when it comes to music it seems like gratification/5s is/are way easier for some reason. #randomthoughts

@Strike: Fair enough. But I'd imagine you have a storied history with it too. :-)

After I die, I'll be remembered for exactly 1 minute and 3 seconds as that dude who used to say "no" a lot. Then people will forget I even existed.

@Agent Yeah that's part of the reason. In that regard, the album "hits home" because of how relatable it is. =(

I'm actually much more critical with movies myself. Only a very small handful even made it past a 4/5 in my book.

I only relate to Bach and Shostakovich fugues.

@Strike: yeah, the relatability is there for sure. I think another reason is I tend to feel more of a connection with younger voices at this stage in my life. I don't often 5 albums that sound like they were sung by forty-somethings because that's not my age bracket. Kind of petty when you think about it, but as a 19-year-old I don't really feel emotions in the same way as, for example, my 48-year-old father. More youthful voices tend to get me now, but I know older voices will click more later in life.

I only relate to old people about to die.
Bastards are either happy as fuck or more depressed than every Neon Genesis Evangelion character.

Gilmour and Waters definitely sounded much older on record than they actually were if memory serves me right.

yeah, I definitely hold this in very high regard already, so it's not a dealbreaker by any means, but it's definitely not as easy to get me feeling the vibe.
