I loved this 10-15 years ago but whenever I’ve given it a listen since I can’t shake how forced all of the metal segments sound. I think the weird symbiotic relationship Opeth and SW had in the early 2000’s is an interesting one because it definitely influenced Opeth positively but in hindsight I definitely feel like it’s where SW’s output started to decline..

Sw's iPod incident is stupid and not even worth the time and effort. His take on VH though, seems okay. I don't know why he should be called out, and honestly, he wasn't. The story was sth along the lines of

-''I don't like EVH style''

-''be a lot cooler if you did''

-''I know, he's cool tho''

-''I know, ily bro''

and that's it.

I 1'd this because I thought it would be funny (just like with butt prog reveries, which is a 2.5 realistically, and I fucking love Opeth)

I believe I've mentioned this many times in this very thread that this is my second least fave Wilson-involved release

Just like old times

The mellow bits on this are great, the heavy riffy bits kind of suck a lot, a lot of the time

Yeah, Tree had a habit at this point in the career of keeping some of their best tracks as bonus tracks and letting some weaker ones slip through

Check this live one, one of the bonus tracks from this iirc, incredible piece

I'm not joking with the title track here unfortunately. I really think it's one of Stevens worst tracks. 9 minutes of boredom
