I also enjoy the irony that this is the userbase of a music score aggregation website that posts 'best of' lists every year and sends reviews to metacritic.
We should send the tagline 'but if you like it/hate it that's absolutely okay and you're 100% valid in having that opinion' so no-one gets upset right?

I also enjoy the irony of someone who believes in objectivity in art joining a music website to discuss music opinions with other people.

"I also enjoy the irony that this is the userbase of a music score aggregation website that posts 'best of' lists every year and sends reviews to metacritic."
How is that ironic? We don't all gather and decide on which is objectively best. We gather the data of averages and calculate it to form a list that depicts the mean of enjoyment in the year's most popular records. That mean then goes to a website that equally categorises a similar list of compiled averages, in order to inform people of albums that, in general likelihood, based on a situation of averages, they're most likely to enjoy. There's not even a smidge of objectivity in that, it's the complete opposite, it is quite literally a popularity contest based on how biased the majority of people are.

If you read what I said I believe there is a measure of objectivity in art, not that all art was only objective though so it's not much of a zinger that

No, you can state whatever you want without fear of derision. You can say that something is shit and not clarify it's your opinion - because we all know that's your opinion. The problem here is that you purposely went out of your way to state that it's not your opinion, but rather a simple fact that Mikko has no right to be making art outside of music because it's objectively bad, then you went on to insult people for believing in subjectivity.

"no-one ever made that argument"
I did, but I'm not gonna spoonfeed an idiot who can't grasp such simple concepts as a divide in quality between works of human edifice, especially since I know in the end he will turn around and say "nuh-uh OPINIONS DUDE" all over again.
No thanks. At least right now I can labor under the delusion that he hasn't had to challenge himself and is thus revelling in this stupidity, but if I were to spend time and effort to change his mind I think I might actually go depressed in the process!

and yeah agreed but we don't make it obvious enough it's opinions. rollout for 2018
'Best Albums of 2018 (but it's just opinions if you disagree please don't be upset)'
'Best New Music (subjectively though, we don't want anyone to feel left out if they didn't enjoy it)'
Asterix all scores with a footer that says 'this is the opinion of the user and only the user and is not affiliated with any objective truth this is all just opinion'
All lists are now not allowed to be numbered in case anyone thinks they are a ranking and people get upset that it's not the ranking they would put.
All aggregate scores are hidden until you sign a discalimer that you realise these are only the opinions of a few and do not represent quality in a non-subjective way

Here's a good video on subjectivity in art

And I didn't even say that I just said I thought it was funny because I thought it was bad, and musicians tend to make a lot of bad art on the whole. Divisive I know

JS, that comment above is pointless. If for once all people started to understand that there is no objectivity in art, all of these claims would be unnecessary because everyone would already know it.

"What is it with people who make music automatically thinking they have stuff to say in other art forms and that stuff is somehow worth saying?
Being able to express yourself in one art form (music) means nothing about your ability to create meaning in another.
Exhibit A this guy"

Didn't you know it's all to do with colours and then asking your teacher if they like something though? Jesus mayhem

"That's all there is to it really."
Another great ultimatum from someone who vehemently opposes objectivity.
You're a bunch of clowns.

'Being able to express yourself in one art form (music) means nothing about your ability to create meaning in another.'
If you spend your life pursuing one art form you are more likely to be inexperienced in another art form but more likely to try and express yourself in said other art form so therefore there is a higher volume of less experienced (ergo, worse) art coming from professional musicians.
My point ^

Okay, but your point here that inexperience makes for bad art is also invalid. Inexperience doesn't mean anything. In fact, if art has taught us anything, it's that there's no way to determine whether experience or inexperience has any weight in it all.
