“southern comfort” is the one for me on that one. What a cool rhythm, and the sort of way the percussion on the syncopation has that “sliding” attack/decay so that it sounds like a fuckin pendulum hittin a peg

this has 5 potential. can’t decide which track is my favorite but I’m leaning toward either Etched Headplate or Shell of Light

"ghost hardware" is such a slapper. I ain't complaining about anything about this album but I always thought the use of the Ray J sample in "archangel" was sorta "confrontational" and that GH goes down smoother (and should therefore be the iconic song from this album)

i feel you there i feel like at this time dubstep of this style people were grasping for a more in your face track that champions the style but i really dig that smoother stuff with the nuances

like a track like “nyc” just settles into itself so like subtlety but satisfyingly

I love visualizing Burial's beats in my head. I mentioned the swinging-pendulum effect of "southern comfort" but something about how the songs have a bass tone that acts as a baseline and then those weeeeird cool swinging rhythms higher up on the percussive-tone scale that I imagine as objects moving through space or hitting each other etc. it's not only the rhythms but the timbres he uses too. what a guy

the clappy sounds on ghost hardware boyyyyy
