This rules, but I need to jam it more. 20/40 is top 5, maybe top 3 ISIS song for me.

The first 3 songs are quite possibly the best "first 3 songs" on any album ever. Nothing, I mean nothing comes close in my 1400 album discography...and I've thought long and hard about that.

Funny enough, I recently declared my new favorite trio of songs in another thread this week. Tracks 3-5 on Tyrant by Thou.

Mine is probably the first 3 tracks of American Football tbh

Checked your 3-song run, Seven. I'd never heard that album before. It was alright, t/t is best. Cleans reminded me of some kind of shitty Ozzy worship or something though. Guess Leviathan really is going to be the only Mastodon album I dig through and through.

Speak - Spreading the Disease - The Mission
is the answer.

Just noticed Titan mentioned Mindcrime before me. Fuck yeah, man. No matter how much praise that album gets, it will be perpetually underrated.

Fun fact: I thought Queen and Queensryche were the same band for at least 15 years.

Well. Must have been for you to find out that they were seperate bands each with their own incredible discogs!

"Checked your 3-song run, Seven...Guess Leviathan really is going to be the only Mastodon album I dig through and through."
Those three might not purely be the three best songs I've ever heard (if not, they're still close), but they're hugely important to my life in music and were the finale of my musical bible, Mastodon's first four.
other contenders:
Dead Man Slough/Donner Party/Sevengill (The Ichthyologist)
Pale Companion/Odal/Wooden Doors (The Mantle)
So Did We/Backlit/In Fiction (Panopticon)
Haaska/Pimea/Jotunheim (Verisakeet)
Winter/Entreitt Das Spharen/Finsternis (Winterkaelte)
Autumn Rain/Hearth/Tears of a Nation (Guardians)

Those two examples would make my top favorite 3-song runs on an album. The beginning of Boxer by The National, middle/end of Lateralus, end of BWP, and middle of Moon & Antarctica would be up there for me too.
|
| |
The last 3 tracks of The National's Alligator are pretty sweet too. Also the last 3 tracks of Wilco's Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.

Yeah I feel the same about those two, TEoES, and beginning of PF.
