Kill'em all, ride, and Puppets were my favorite metal albums as a kid, , maybe because I was young, but those 3 still stand up to scrutiny pretty easily. these at least tied at the top of the thrash world during that period

this was pretty much the definitive Metallica album to me growing up, it was pretty surprising finding out a lot of peeps didn't even consider it "canon" when I got a little older
