I'd say Disambiguation is a 4.7, Define is a 4.6, and this is like a 4.4

Their last 3 (not counting the disappointment that is Erase Me) albums are all fucking dope

This album is DTGL on welfare. At least on Disamb they try something different.

No way man this one kicks up the electronic ambience up a notch and overall has more atonal riffing. Also has what I think is the best narrative structure out of any of their albums.

Don’t get me wrong, DTGL is probably just as good but they are different.

nothing on DTGL comes close to the heaviness of "breathing in a new mentality" or "the only survivor", and overall this has a bigger emphasis on atmosphere overall as well.

I'll admit a couple tracks feel like a bit like filler at times, but every track is enjoyable & the closer stands out as one of their most unique & best moments in their discog.

while not as huge of a shift in sound as disambig, it does more than enough to separate itself from DTGL

tracks 6-8 feel like the band going through the motions tbh but all is made for by those incredible fucking last three songs. breathing in, only survivor and anyone can dig a hole are top tier too

I dunno Returning Empty Handed and Everyone Looks So Good From Here come close to that level of heaviness but that Adam D production does give this some extra beef

Also I love every single track on this

You could be right about it being just as good. They kicked up the ambience at the loss of some of the heaviness from DTGL. I just prefer heaviness to ambience, so it's my job as the ever objective listener to discern whether I don't like an album just because it isn't as heavy as a previous one, or if it's actually just not as good.

GetLow I used to agree with you on this album but after awhile I saw the light.

This is accurate, even 6-8 have some amazing moments in them though they just don't separate themselves as much from the rest of the pack

this album toned down the riffs a bit compared to DTGL, but I feel like this is heavier overall just in a different way
