"He had emotion on contradictions album"
If you're looking for emotion in Meshuggah Jesus mate you're looking in the wrong place. It's like complaining for no action scenes in a Romcom.
" I imagine a record label told them to make it more extreme to sell more and they did."
Or maybe they just wanted to do something different?
"name on track on here that matches a masterwork like 'Greed' from Contradictions Collapse?"
The whole thing.

does that really matter though lol, they're as monotone as lot of popular metalcore/hardcore punk bands. plus, if at the time they were told to go more extreme (which I can imagine by '91-'93 cuz wowee there were so many death metal bands sprouting), then they became the better for it.

Disagree. They lost dynamics. AS the music got more complex, he got more monotone and dry. I say ditch the singer and find somebody with dynamics and range. Extremity for the heavy parts and some metalcore-esque clean vocals for some choruses every now and then. That's what best for the band.

Do you assocate dynamics and range something a band has to have to be good? Because it isn't.

I would tell Jens Kidman straight to his face and I dare the guy to challenge me. What!

I like to think he's screaming "IIIIIII", being one vowel. Plus it would seem to hint that he is the one responsible for his failure.

Mans really wants to turn Meshuggah into Periphery I'm fucking dying
|
| |
Lmao is it possible to imagine Meshuggah implementing clean vocals? It'd be their version of St. Anger.

I don't think I want to hear that

I don't like Jens either, but I think metalcore style vocals would not suit this band at all. If anything I would prefer Meshuggah as an instrumental band.

No, because then they'd start turning into Periphery. And Periphery's one of the worst metal bands I've ever had the displeasure of hearing

Periphery is one of those bands that I should like according to my tastes, but just don't

They're basically a combination of the poor man's Meshuggah, the poor man's Protest the Hero, and one of the most mindblowingly awful metal vocalists to walk the earth

lol sorry, that might have been overboard. I just hate Periphery so much
