This album goes overboard sometimes, but this still has a bunch of highlights and for me their second best.

I'm more in agreement with Mongi about prog than I used to be, sometimes less is more.

Wankery is the worst part about these guys. And labrie's voice. They're pretty good at their respektive instuments tho, can't deny that

I really like LaBrie's voice (most of the time at least), it's an essential part of DT for me.

Yeeeeeea his voice just doesn't sit well with me at times but he's not a technically bad singer. There are sections where I enjoy him especially on Awake.

I'd almost go as far as to claim: no LaBrie, no DT. A daring thesis I know, but I can't imagine any other singer replacing LaBrie. So many parts and hamonies rely on his voice...

I agree. My dad says he's the weakest link in the band but it just wouldn't be them without his highly distinguishable voice

LaBrie is awesome on this, his vox on Beyond This Life are incredible.

La Brie has a highly depended relation with the band. He's not much without them and vice versa. Even Portnoy, one of the greatest columns of the band, proved to be depended on them, four years now he's done nothing worth mentioning. But I've come to a point where his voice represents all the cheese. Their early stuff is the only thing I listen to anymore.

@myth come on though, it's not just Labrie's voice. It's also them awful melodies, which petrucci is guilty of
