TCOT through DTGL were fantastic and COTP was pretty good, agreed.

Yea not what I meant lol. So you really think DTGL was their last good one?

No, but I think the band lost it's magic after that album. Litsauce and Disamb are still good though.

I have to disagree, DTGL was the point imo where they really found their style and ran with it, LITSOS and (Ø) are them doing different things with the style.

They didn't "find their style" on those albums as much as they simply changed their style. DTGL is the bridge that connects the old with the new.

I never got the obsession with DTGL, I prefer most of their other modern albums especially Ø.

A lot of people, including myself, have a strong personal connection with the album.

DTGL really got me into hardcore music and it still holds up. Tons of great riffs, progressive song structures, and lyrics akin to an existential crisis

Didn't care much for dtgl when it came out because i expected tocs 2.0, but I like it these days

It's been like a decade since I gave it the time of day, I'll check it again. I mostly remember the 2 long songs being quite good.

Yeah check it it's good

You haven't listened to DTGL in a decade? God damn dude, listen to it right now
|

Man I was so happy that they got way heavier and more progressive, I needed that shit at the time. And the post-metal tracks absolutely floored me, I hadn’t heard anything like that at that point
|
| |
Also it really stuck out because none of the “scene” bands they were associated with were doing anything like it, and even imitators these days haven’t really come close to doing what they did

Honestly I try not to spin TOCS anymore because I like it less every time I do. That album was my favorite during my formative years, but it has just aged so poorly. If it weren’t for my rose-tinted nostalgia blinders I’d have it at the same rating as this.
