wish what were as well produced? no gorguts record sounds as bad as this one (unless you have this on vinyl, hence my 5). obscura and wisdom are pretty close on cd though

I'm no sound quality expert but I like the albums to sound big and up front and Colored Sands doesn't sound as 'big' as SoP does. I wish I knew sound junkie jargon so my words could make any sense.

this is much louder than colored sands by virtue of compression so i guess that's what you like.

I like my dm to be more in my face, not more of a lo-fi (if that's the right way to put it) like bm does it with the intentionally poor sounding quality.

Which isn't 'poor' I guess if its intentional

"it's definitely tech dm; stylistic comparisons can be drawn to post-metal but they are not by any means a post-metal band. they sound most like immolation and gorguts, who are both death metal, if non standard."

they're pretty post-y tho, especially this one. like i feel pretty comfortable calling them post dm

I haven't delved much into post metal bands but from what I've experienced it's basically heavy shoegaze? Like Alcest or If These Trees Could Talk?

post-metal generally has more in common with sludge. alcest isn't post-metal

im not an expert either, but i think there's a little bit of a difference between like alcest who meld shoegaze/post rock with bm and real post metal like isis or neurosis. alcest is still post metal in that it's post/metal i guess but there's a difference to me idk

I get doom and sludge mixed up a lot. I know doom traditionally is basically rooted in old Black Sabbath but nowadays it's like Sunn0))) right?
