I find it strange that these don't hold a candle to their previous work, you would think if even if is only Prog rock, it would be a little more interesting, but every time i listen to these 3 records, i just get bored... knowing their previous stuff, these should be more interesting, coming from Opeth

I see what you're saying, I don't entirely agree.

Heritage probably could have been a lot better, although I wanted to make love to it when it first came out.

Pale Communion was poor.

This however, is much better. 'The Wilde Flowers' and the title track are fantastic. I don't get the hate for the former. Era is stunning too.

Heritage rules. It's a truly inspired and unique record. Pale Communion has some excellent moments too tbh. And Sorceress is okay. And not much more. Some tracks like Strange Brew are really good and fun, but it just doesn't live up to their back catalogue

The Heritage is by far the most interesting of the 3 for me.

Heritage grew to be very disjointed for me. Famine, Haxprocess and Nepenthe especially for me.

I Feel the Dark is top tier though for me and Marrow of the Earth is gorgeous.

Heritage's genious shines. The jazz-y approach in some songs (Nepenthe, Haxprocess etc.) is beyond words. The whole album is a masterpiece, from beginning to end.

PC is poor, although it's fun to listen from time to time. Then, Soerceress is more focused than PC, more cohesive, and some songs are just delicious (Strange Brew, Wilde Flowers, Chrysalis)

I guess dom, but Damnation still pretty stripped down and acoustic. A solo Mikael acoustic album would be sweet tho.

Heritage took years to grow on me, but I consider it just as inspired as their previous albums (for the most part). PC and this are lower in quality, but still good. I think a hiatus is for the best.

Pale Communion is dull imo, Heritage is ok but not too much of a fan, Sorceress is easily my favorite of the 3 but i dont come back to it nearly as much as i would have thought

I love how adventurous and unpredictable Heritage is. Also the rhythm section is stunning. Haxprocess, Folklore, Marrow of the Earth, I Feel the Dark, and Nepenthe are amazing.
