ANYWAYS well executed ambient can definitely be some of the most rewarding experiences in music, no hate

i just prefer not digging through the 3000 ambient albums sputnik recs to find those rewarding pieces cuz so damn much of it is like NO THANKS

If I rec ambient it's almost always something that I've connected with in some way.

Of course there's some boring, monotonous ambient out there, that goes for most genres.

"washboardsuds: dude, i haven't seen you in like forever. also, i was a little confused reading your post because it seemed like your response to my quote was actually a re-framing of what i said, but then maybe i wasn't coming across as clearly as i wanted to? i mean, if you can tell there's something there to explore and innately know it'll take repeat listens to crack the surface, then obviously you'd keep doing it. i thought that kind of went without saying. what i had meant was that, in those albums where you find little to no value and are left scratching your head thinking 'well, pretty sure there's nothing there to go back to,' it's safe to say you can put it down knowing you won't glean much. "

ha it's cool dude, I was kind of half responding to your post and half putting my own thoughts into words. and I agree with you here, I was just saying I don't think it's necessarily a waste of time to bother with music that doesn't click with you right away since from my own experiences devoting a little extra effort has helped me find some of my favorite music

and yeah wow jeez it has been forever, I miss my old sputbuddies
