Prelude 3.0 is a quality opener and one of their best songs too

Just listened to the new album for first time. It is not bad but is not very good as well. Sounds like a 2.5 / 3.0

Really loving the new record. Sarcastrophe might still be my favorite though. The new drummer really holds his own, he's a great replacement for Joey.

New record hasn't clicked with me yet, hoping it's a grower.

I like the new record but the more I listen the more I wish there was an undeniable future concert staple like Duality or Wait and Bleed

I've already heard it like 4 times, and it's probably my favorite Slipknot release, really solid stuff.

New record sounds stale to me. Seems way too calculated, formulaic and predictable and doesn't seem to take many if any chances.

"its taking nothing BUT chances dude. They lost Paul Gray and Jordinson and still put out an album that nearly blends all of their slipknot aspects into one. That's a huge chance in itself. "
That's not risk taking, that's choosing to cash in because they have a brand that is a cash cow and that has legions of fans that will throw money at them no matter what they put out. And musically you prove my point. Nothing is fresh on the record, everything seems recycled, over-calculated and lacks any genuine emotion.

How is them doing what they've always done but with less innovation NOT playing it safe?

@JWT: They're not in it for money, like, at all. Not in this day and age where they've made zillions off of immense live gates and, to a lesser extent, quadruple-platinum album sales.
I do agree with you though in regards to there not being anything stylistically risky or experimental in comparison to all the records that came before it. Hell, even AHIG took more chances by switching the genre to groove metal. In moments of catharsis, it's (mostly) formulaic, and in moments of melancholy, it's horribly implemented angst.
