I like the rawness of Fates Warning compared to DT and Queensryche

I seriously agree with Nag. Fates Warning sure has plenty more variety and consistancy in their discography, but of course Queensryche influenced a more theatrical sound in Perfect Symmetry, which in turn crafted a model for prog metallers everywhere.

And yes, No Exit is awesome. It would surpass Perfect Symmetry if Zonder played on it.

I still like the songs better on the Livecrime album. It has a bigger, better sound and the few changes make the songs better.

interesting. i'll have to check that out. part of my problem with this is a i wish it had a bigger sound. production is a weak point

Livecrime is great but I still find the original experience to be the best. The production actually fits the music perfectly imo.

Production is fine. Doesnt sound any weaker than any other 80s metal album

Exactly. Fates Warning's 80s albums were badly produced, but that didn't stop them either.

Oh yes indeed.

This album could be as badly produced as Bathory's debut and it would still be monumentally superior to most popular albums out today.

production isn't that bad or anything but it could be better. at least for me

Maybe so but I really can't be bothered by a could-be-better production when all these glorious songs

are coming at my ears. In the worst cases bad production can certainly bring a record down more than a

little, but in the end it isn't the most important aspect.

certainly not. i have this at a 4.5 and the only thing separating it from a 5 is the production.

Production shouldnt be a huge factor. Its not like it changes the quality of the album.
