Metallica solos are better than Slayer solos (even though many post 1991 solos are waaaaaah wah wah), but Slayer's solos fit the grittier style, and there's been some highlights throughout their career.

Now the solos here are appropriately chaotic to fit the genre defining style presented here.

myself i never cared for slayer solos. nothing about them stand out. just "appropriately chaotic" as you say. nothing memorable, nothing like, well, all the solos on peace sells

Yeah there's no comparison, but the solos on "Seasons in The Abyss" and "Angel of Death" are pretty nifty.

"I'm by no means a huge Metallica fan but they're obviously better than Slayer in every feasible comparable."

I have a tremendous amount of respect for Metallica, but I refuse to believe that there is a universe where Lars is a better drummer than Dave Lombardo. Lars's inept ability to do more than 2 drum patterns has almost ruined Metallica songs for me.

"Every Slayer song essentially follows the same formula."

I am convinced that only people who believe this are people who only know Raining Blood and Angel of Death. Slayer's first 5 albums are unique to one another and are top quality metal imo.

"Hetfield is the best frontman of the big 4 by a mile tbh."

Nahh, its Dave Mustaine.
