I might bump this to a 5 for 24 hours and see if it actually causes my self perception to crumble

The lyrics are angsty, sure, but they're also a lot of other things. I outgrew some of the lyrics (Millstone for example isn't quite the loss of innocence anthem as it was when I was 18) as I'm sure many did, but the words to most of these - particularly Jesus and Limousine - will always resonate.

Agreed. As overrated as this is, the lyrics really shine in places. Degausser and Millstone have not aged well and Luca's imagery is a little laboured, but Jesus is beautifully written.

I think we can all agree that it's the delivery that really brings this to life. If anyone else had been singing, it would have fallen by the wayside.

tbchimo I'd say jesus is prob the only song here that I could confidently say hasn't COMPLETELY aged well, as it's quite down there on my ranking of the album; although the part where Jesse IS DOING HIS YELL VOICE is rly good. opinions :^)

Yeah. No matter what you think of the lyrics I don't think you can doubt that he means the hell out of every word.

Jesse was 28 when this came out. yes, the lyrics wallow in self-misery and angst, but i think its pretty dumb to call them "fakedeep fourteen year old boi" lyrics. they sound like they come from someone who suffers from depression more than the musings of an angsty teenager. a lot of them are extremely clever.
