just put this on and after 20 mins it felt like i was still listening to the same song.
this is an objectively amazing record and some of my favourite songs of all time are here, but it just sounds kind of homogeneous now compared to their more varied latter-day material.

honestly this is pretty varied too, it's the non stop intensity that can make it sound homogeneous I guess. people have that problem with Reign In Blood too for example.
but yea, just listening to this after a long time, maaan gotta love how Homewrecker comes in after Hell To Pay

There's so much to love about this album, and yet, it just sort of bleeds together after a while. Thaw and Jane doe are basically perfect tho. Also really like concubine, broken vow, and distance and meaning but don't especially care for the rest

It’s one of those rare examples where it’s one piece of music rather than just a collection of songs. Individually the tracks are very good but together they’re unstoppable. It has a homogenous quality but I don’t see that as a negative although to begin with perhaps it was as everything seemingly blended together.
