that wasn't my comment:
"... but i think they're at their best without vocals"

never said anything about his voice. said something about the music.

well the album was made as a instrumental first from what i heard? so the vocals etc. was sort of a afterthought, i mean...someone put the instrumentals of fortress in our face and says "ok do the vocal hooks now", if that happened to me i would probably froze up and left the band, it is a miracle that rody was able to make it catchy thoughout instrumentals like those,

so i dunno if u like them best without the vocals then ur choice

"(I'm citing Alaska specifically because that is the only album I have and have listened to by them, and even more specifically Selkies with the keyboard)"

dude if PTH ripped off Selkies I would be pysched. That song is the bees knees.

my friend played this in the car yesterday again and i was like this would be good with better transitions and less crap

does cocaine randomly delete comments?
(note: by randomly i already understand that posts not in regard to the review and/or
record do not really have a place in these discussion areas but to eliminate single
comments seems a bit extreme. I can imagine whole irrelevant conversations)This Message Edited On 05.11.08

sounds nothing like btbam really but okay and also there are more keyboards on fortress than on any btbam album

Honestly Mr. Cocaine? I'll bro out with you every wednesday thursday and friday but to say they sound nothing like btbam is a tad ludicrous .

The vocals are fantastic and are what really seperate PTH from most other bands out there...and i agree that they are really good at creating epicness in shorter songs but i really want a long song next album.

Just 1...8-10 minutes and i'll be happy. They can pull it off though it might blur the line between them and pth even more so they might want to avoid that. I want to have my cake and eat it too i guess.

Comparing Btbam to Pth is like comparing apples to oranges.

Maybe like comparing red apples to green...there are vast differences and i'm not saying they are carbon copies but there are similarities and to say they are nothing alike really doesn't make sense.

Honestly the BTBAM/Protest and the In Mourning/Opeth comparisons are extremely annoying. This Message Edited On 05.11.08

You can say these things, but really what are message boards good for if not making vague comparisons of bands and discussing things of this nature. How many times can i say the vocal interplay at the end of Wretch is awesome, or the keyboad solo in Limb From Limb makes me happy in the pants.

Comparisons of bands/arguments about said bands at least lead to interesting discussion.

At 100 pages in we are past the point of discussing Rody's amazing range or Arif's awesomeness.

Comparisons of bands can lead to interesting discussions and as long as fools who say "ZOMG Protest the Hero is gay because they stink" don't really join in i don't see the harm.

Just my two cents but discussions of similarities differences and what we like/dislike about similar bands is much more interesting then saying
still good
Spinlight...i find comments that don't add anything at all and are worthless in every way like that "extremely annoying".

my comment was fair game

it's also fine that you find your topics relevant, but when discussion becomes bent on how the sounds between the two bands is similar instead of how the actual record sounds, it's completely irrelevant. This Message Edited On 05.11.08

If a lot of these comments got deleted we'd be having to sort through so many blank pages that don't actually exist.
