Despite the dissonance and often conflicting melodies the album seeps with emotion and beauty. Kurt Ballou's writing is amazing that way.

Kurt Ballou wrote the guitar bits for most of these songs, so the melodies are pretty much his given that Nick usually just accompanies and Ballou doesn't really have melody.
So when I say Ballou's writing I mean the guitar parts.
