I can't find any flaw on this, such an amazing album. Everything that people criticize about this is what makes me love it, it's opeth doing what they do best. Hard 5.

''Opeth doing what they do best.'' Lol.

Every other album by them is better than this.

Disagree, but to each his own.

I used to be a fan of BWP, but I think this tops it and is only surpassed by SL. Note that I have all 3 albums at 5.

To each their own indeed. MAYH and BWP is my top 2, can't decide which one is the best. It's followed by Ghost Reveries, Heritage and Still Life. I only dislike this album by them. BWP used to be my favorite, but that grew off a little bit, so it's tied with MAYH.

It's the fan favorite, but still like 6th for me. People don't like to appreciate that Orchid is top 3.

Orchid is one of their weakest IMO, and so is this album. On an Opeth level though, those are still pretty good.

Orchid and Morningrise are too amateurish and disjoined to be considered among their best, despite having some of their greatest songs.

Morningrise is definitely their best. I can't think of a single thing on there that sounds disjointed or amateurish.

the first two albums just sound like they recorded a bunch of riffs then pasted them together on a computer tho

The production/atmosphere is a lot of what makes those albums so enjoyable for me tbh.

MA,YH is my personal favorite with Morningrise following close behind.

What zaruyache said. Don't get me wrong, I still love those albums. They have amazing acoustic guitar sections. I think the three they did afterwards are superior though, better musicianship, more diverse, better vocals/lyrics, and more mature songwriting and emotion.

They've always been pretty diverse and I'd say all of their albums have plenty of emotion. Opinions though.
