Green Day's worst album by far in my opinion. I'de say Kerplunk is their best, witch is still not very listenable. After dookie, Green Day just went to shit.

Is it just me or does Extraordinary Girl remind you of that song That Thing You Do by The Wonders? The part that definately reminded me of that song was right after the weird intro. This song is very catchy too.

great cd, listen to it all the time but does anyone else it could almost be better without the title track?

This is Green Day's best album by far, I'm sorry but Black Flag, you are 100% wrong. Green Day won a grammy because of this CD. Awesome Review
!Legendary CD!
This is probly the Sgt Pepers Heart Club Band of my generation. THink about it Greenday is THE biggest band in the US right now, dont try to disagree with your favorite band I mean I wish Crossfade were the biggest band but Greenday is the only thing to beat out Rap of charts.
Interesting comparision. When I first read that I was thinking "No way" but I thought about it and I can see that it could be true.

This means that the mainstream appreciates them. After seeing Maroon 5 pull in awards from all over the place, I've kinda realized that they MEAN NOTHING! However, Greenday still is a very good band.
The Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club comparison is quite valid. This will be one of those albums that changed music, like London Calling, or Nevermind, along with Sgt. Peppers.
I would be interested to know why people hate Greenday. It's not like it's the worst thing out there.

I really dont like Greenday in general, but having heard everyone rave about this album, i borrowed it from a friend.
I put it on, skipped American Idiot as id heard it about 15 times already, and listented to the rest of the album.
I really didnt like it. I found the drums boring, the chord sequences cliched and bland, and didnt really his voice. I would personally give it a 2.5/5, but if your a fan of pop, then i think youd enjoy this album.

oh no! they started selling more CDs, shit they must be crap now we can't like anything that's not wicked underground!! grow some balls you anti-conformist dickheads, listen to what you want because you like it, not because of how many copies have been sold.

Amen. Plus, a grammy just means that they're getting recognized by the general public for their work.

OK i feel like throwing this for people (my opinions and thoughts):
1. Tre did sing rock and roll girlfriend
2. They have a lead because managing to be lead and rythm guitar (the only guitarist) is hellish if you're a lead singer plus they have a lead guitar to add intricacy to their songs
3. why pick a favorite song... this a is a rip-off of someone but it IS like pikcing a favorite chapter of a book or scene of a play... it's all one beutifully worked peice
4. those people that come to diss our favorite bands do so because they lack a life and music of their own. they spend their time and efforts to insult other because of their own insecurities about themselves and their music. ie--- why many homophobes can end up being bisexual or homosexual... like my psychology? ^ ^
5. i feel that people's opinions should be respected but when you have random people pop in and shoot some negetive words with no backup.. thats just pitiful... i can back up all my opinions with reasons and/or facts... these people spend 10 minutes reading the posts and another 3 listeniing to a shortened version of the song on MTV2 or Fuse... i hope these poor people find their own music and some real supported opinions, not random generalizations
6. i also beleive that the album American Idiot [the album] should be played at a time late an night when you're laying in bed and half asleep to ge the full feel for it. that's the time when you notice those little details and riffs you never heard before... i actually tried it and was surprised
7. Whoever said that american idiot is like an intro into an opera or a movie's theme song... great way of putting it...
8. i wrote this in a fancy way... dont ask why... sounded like fun... some reason made me get smarter for the last hour and a half... now im back to dumb old me

#3 i typo'd:
"3. why pick a favorite song... this a is a rip-off of someone but it IS like pikcing a favorite chapter of a book or scene of a play... it's all one beutifully worked peice"
I meant to put:
" I'm rippin someone off with this but here it is: it IS like pikcing a favorite chapter of a book or scene of a play... it's all one beutifully worked peice"

i wonder how americans feel about this

Umm... spamfest? Can we get a moderator or something?

I really like this album. It demonstrates a excellent use of creativity, although I didn't understand why they broke up 2 songs into 5 parts. The meaning behind this. I have no clue. Maybe it's just the uniqueness that makes us love green day all the more.

Look at this. Michael Z has enough time on his gay hands to make like 500 faces. Get that kid outta here.
|

Could be because the slow ones were more technicaly intricate, and the fast ones were fairly simple, yet catchy.

hey zappa, grow a dick.
What in holy hell gives you the right to say "Get out of my forum" Like you own the forum or something.
Even if you do own the forum i couldn't care less because saying that just makes you a over rated gimp whose power over a fricken website has all of a sudden made him powerful.
Or maybe you were just a loser in high school anyway.
Anyway i like Holiday, Whatsername and Homecoming.

True mate true. I agree. No evidence, no opinions, what do you think this is? Just 'cause you're one of the top reviewers on this site don't get stuck-up about it and think whatever you say goes.
