Stapp does have (did have?) a decent voice, but the music was always just so sappy... well, the lyrics were. The music was actually half decent.

yeah Creed's musicians were always really talented and there's a reason why they all (especially Tremonti) have their own careers now

That's the thing that's frustrating about this band. Tremonti is a good guitarist, they had a very solid post-grunge sound, and Stapp is legitimately a good vocalist (though he tried a bit hard at times to mimic the earlier grunge vocalists). But the combination of garbage lyrics, increasingly worse music, and Stapp generally being the most insufferable dickhead in the last forty years of rock music sealed their fate to be mocked for many years.
I wish I could say Alter Bridge fixed that issue but I personally cannot stand Alter Bridge. I find them to be among the most insufferable bands in all of music today. I would rather listen to the first few Creed albums 20 times in a single day than have to sit through a single Alter Bridge album. But that's just me.
I honestly wouldn't be shocked though if within the next few years time there was a slew of nostalgia for Creed and this era of post grunge. Same shit happened to hair and glam metal which suffered the same kind of critical and popular disgust when grunge and alternative rock buried it as a popular genre.

My Own Prison is a legitimately good song. Even when i hated this band as a pretentious teenager I couldn't deny I loved that song.

Certainly not. Not with Wes's erratic behaviour.

MJK and Bono say hello.

What's the beef with Bono?

Album Rating: 3.5
this list is pretty accurate:
- He wears tinted sunglasses all the time.
- He's a 50 year old man who calls himself 'Bono'
- He's in U2
- That one story about him flying his hat first class to a gig after he left it at home
- Tax evasion
- Does charity work in a way that strikes people as narcissistic and 'look at me, look how wonderful I am, saving all the children'.
- IT'S BONO - HE'S JUST A CUNT, OK?
|
| |
Haha, I'm not much of a U2 fan (aka I only like the singles) but I always kinda admired him

I hate bono mostly due to reason #1 you listed there lol. Reason 2 is good too.

Nowhere near as bad as everyone says. The tortured vocals get a bit much, but the album is still an enjoyable listen.

creed has never been as bad as everyone says, they just had a few cringey formulaic singles that were raped by radio airplay. People compare Creed to Nickelback but Creed has always been approx 1000x more talented than Nickelback
