Then leave and come back when you're not in the mood to be an obnoxious elitist.

I feel that this review was bias and completely unjustified.

How was the review in any way biased? I'm not some indie fanatic picking up a random metal album. I listen to metal.

I spent the entirety of my budget for this sort of thing on my digital video editing suite. I don't have audio recording software or hardware right now.

Since I'm an equal participant in this "duel" then you either agree to the conditions I am bound by, or you get nothing and can spend the rest of the night jerking off. This Message Edited On 10.12.06

Forget it.I wanted a nice little guitar duel ala crossroads not some electronic equipment versus my guitar skills duel.

Then I hope your right hand and your crotch are very happy together.

It astounds me that you're such an elitist you actually value picking speed over actual songwriting ability.

Anyway, had this little duel commenced, the outcome would be irrelevant. I'm still a respected contributor to this site, and you're not. This Message Edited On 10.12.06

Yet you refuse to see what I'm capable of composing because it was recorded with a digital program instead of by hand, thus trivializing a lot of artists.

I think it would be best if you left for tonight. You've made a big enough fool of yourself, and it would be in your best interests to sleep on all of this before you even think of lashing out against established, respected members of this community with your infantile chest-beating.

Slayer,is all about speed,THATS IT.Kerry King is one of the LEAST techinical guitar players out there and even though he is signature by all means,he is not a great guitar player and neither is Jeff or Tom,Dave Lombardo is a different story altogether though.
First off, yes. And why? For comparing 'Detonation' to a song by Slayer. I believe I'm the biggest Slayer fan you'll come across on this site, and I can tell you straight up that Trivium don't sound like Slayer, and even so on 'Detonation'.

I never said Kerry King was great technical player, cause he isn't. I think Jeff is rather underrated, but still isn't that great. And yes, they base most of their material off of speed, but speed isn't a factor in classics such as 'Dead Skin Mask' and 'Spill the Blood'.
You know who I ****ing hate?Death Metal bands that write about the same **** over and over again and use the same blast beat patterns and muffled growling and stupid cliche' album covers.
You know what I hate? Sh*tty wanna-be self-proclaimed egotistical bands that hump the leg of Metallica and write an entire album while jacking off to 'Master of Puppets' with the same recycled riffs over and over.

I honestly don't think this is as horrible as that piece of crap 'Ascendancy', but dumb-a*s fanboys like yourself are making me hate it more and more.

Well, I just listened to the sample songs. There is obviously a huge Metallica influence. It isn't as close to Metallica as you are saying though, with the exception of the vocals, because it is a lot more technical, which isn't a good thing in this case. This album sounds kind of boring and sounds more like metalcore than anything else. I'm sick of American metal. Scandinavian bands have always done metal right.

For great American metal I turn to Kamelot, Savatage, Iced Earth, and Slough Feg.

There will be no replacing of Slough Feg. High Passage/Low Passage is a song for which a proper superlative has not been invented.

Kamelot are newer, but Savatage have been around for a while.

I highly recommend Kamelot's The Fourth Legacy and The Black Halo.

As for Savatage, I would recommend Hall of the Mountain King for the classic era when Jon Oliva was still singer, and Edge of Thorns for the first album when they had Zack Stevens on vocals. Among their later work, highly recommend The Wake of Magellan. This Message Edited On 10.12.06

The reviewer was right about Detonation sounding like a direct Metallica rip-off. The beginning sounds exactly like the beginning of Creeping Death.
