I'd say Katatonia is more consistent than either Converge or Gorguts, they have about twice as many albums as the latter, and they never released Halo in a Haystack.

there's also been rumors that the new one will bring back some death/doom elements to their sound. I believe there was even a comment from the band on one of their Facebook posts that hinted as much, although I'm having trouble finding it now.
