I haven't loved a new release like this in a while tbh
This might not be true at all, but I really enjoy this lol

I'm just glad my favourite band from my teenage days still had something like this in them.
Like Sowing said I just miss some piano driven songs, and also some post rocky moments like in Citizen Erased.
It's very solid nonetheless.

Sooo, last time I checked this record out, I had it on shuffle and it started with “Be With You” (by far the worst song on the album, in my opinion). I just listened to it properly, and it’s actually really fun and catchy.

Same, that breakdown at the end is epic

Be With You and Shimmering Scars are the only tracks that don’t do it for me.

shimmering scars really works for me, love the builds and that electric melody at the end. usually not a fan of their more ballad-y songs but that one is great.

it’s no falling away with you but it is quite good
be with you is definitely the weak link for me. it sounds like an amalgam of guiding light and follow me

Ok I’m just now getting to my 2nd full listen through and Unravelling is definitely shining through as an early favorite. As of now, it’s the only track here I’d put in top tier Muse, though it’s still no Citizen Erased, Take a bow; map of the problematique, reapers, time is running out, Stockholm etc. The album as a whole flies by, varied, CONSISTENT and paced well. 45 mins feels closer to 30. Leaves you wanting more in a good way. Even Be With You sounded good this time. Shit I feel like I may be talking my way into a 4.
And Shimmering Scars is great agreed. Didn’t get into it first listen. But this time, it hit me right in the feels. Currently going through a divorce myself and while I’m the one who wanted it and have been in a new relationship for 4 months, I can still obviously heavily relate to the emotions in it.
I think I can still say I prefer Drones, but I do lowkey love that album. We shall see if it stays that way.

Yeah I might sit down and give these guys a serious listen. I’ve heard a bunch of their shit before but this is the first album by them I’ve listened to in full.
Daaaaaamn brother. For real?! Oh man, check out Origin of Symmetry first. Their best. Then Absolution, which is nearly just as good. Then Black Holes, which is front half loaded, but solid nonetheless. Drones is really good too, but def do those three previously mentioned first.
