This and goldstar are sitting comfortably at 1 and 2 respectively. Gonna take a lot to topple that.

Amethyst is the best track on this album imo. It’s such a complete and enthralling song from start to finish.

“This and goldstar are sitting comfortably at 1 and 2 respectively. Gonna take a lot to topple that.” HARD [2]
And yeah Amethyst might be my fave you’re not alone Yoyo

I've basically never dug this band, except for the first couple minutes of brought to the water which are god-tier great imo. Just never much of a shoegaze fan.
Do I prioritize checking this or stick with cradle and goldstar for now?

Guy you'll most likely love this one. Minimum amount of shoegaze on here, it's mostly just fierce balls to the wall heavy black metal goodness.

... with a big part shoegaze foundation

Going to jam this at work today

All about Revelator, Amethyst, and Winona. All three are among their best tracks ever imo
Body Behavior, Orange Tree, and Doberman are pretty killer too, but I love every track here to some extent.

The more I listen to this, the more I feel like this is Black Brick the album. Other songs are very obvious to tell which album they derived the sound from, but harsher edges on this album really feels like they are riffing on the black brick idea.
and I fucking love it lol

Yeah this is literally just New Bermuda but better imo, with some OCHL thrown in but again… better. I really don’t see how anyone doesn’t have this second to Sunbather unless you hopped on with Infinite Granite and just expected something else, or you’re an og and love Judah

Not a big fan of bather, writingwise honestly. Always dug Bermuda better and Granite is pretty cool for me when it came, kinda bold move. Wasn t here on sunbather hype tho. Glad they re back on harshes&riffs anyways

IG has a special place in my heart for mombasa. The whole album feels like a buildup to that song.
Honestly, I would not be surprised if this tops Sunbather. bather has become way too symbolic of an album to be judged objectively, but I really believe this is an absolutely fantastic culmination of all of their effort upto this point. Not only that, they managed to still expand their sound a little bit with utilizing interludes to really build the atmosphere and give some daughters vibe. If growth and maturity is worth merit, this is no doubt peak deafheaven.

On one hand, IG has its moments and I do enjoy it on the level of seeing Deafheaven step out of their comfort zone but I have to agree with Fantano's point of "why listen to this when I could just listen to Slowdive"
That being said, that final release on "Mombasa" is awesome and nearly makes an entire listen worth it alone
