There is definitely a lot of mathcore in this. Like in their NY buddies Pyrrhon.

Both bands became more "approachable" with their latest releases

This album is excessively start-stop for me at times

Really cool music, just can’t bite into it as much as i want to. Which i guess is how i feel about this band overall, in different ways from release to release

Bassist Steve Blanco is a member of the band, Sarmat, who just put out a new EP this past Friday. Wonderful jazzy Metal

Yeah that Sarmat EP rules. Wasn't a fan of their album from 2023 but I was pleasantly surprised.

Right on, I’ve enjoyed their past work, but Upgrade might be my favorite thing they’ve released yet

Yep, Sarmat also features Oleg Zalman from Artificial Brain. I really enjoyed their debut album. Very jazzy avant-garde metal resembling death metal.

I wasn't particularly enamoured with Sarmat's previous outing. Dubious Disk was cool tho. It might be of interest.

This is still skronking ahrd. All thrills, no (okay... "few") spills. Instant gratification, decadent, ear-candy deliciousness

like Pyrrhon, I'm still waiting for the eureka moment which places this alongside a couple of their earlier offerings, but it's proving to be a satisfying addition regardless

If you liked Dubious Disk, def check Upgrade. I'd say check Upgrade regardless, but you're so stingy with your listening time. Oh well, check Upgrade.
