Best album since their first three. Has a very good return to form.

I would agree with that statement on first listen

NWFT is criminally underrated. I feel if they dropped that album today you folk would be gushing over it.

First half of NWFT is fantastic but it kind of peaks at feathers and fizzles out from there with a few more good moments for me. Running Free is one of their worst singles imo and the 2 non BSS singles from this dunk on it.

Also saying YOTBR is better/has more highlights than Afterman is insane. It feels like people really didn't give those albums a proper go (I don't even really separate them in my mind I always listen back to back) and it took me a long time to give them a fair shake because I disliked the previous 2 so much but I think they're a lot better than even NWFT on the whole and just behind the first 3.

Manage your expectations vs the hype for sure but I think this is a very solid execution of their newer sound and a great course correction from the last record.

I will stand ten toes down and say the hype is warranted.
I listened to both aftermans and vaxis I yesterday. I adore those records to no end, but I do think this is a step above.

WOW THIS IS IT !! Stunning record definitely, powerful emotional just everything about this record makes me smile and cry. Corner my Confidence had me on tears and Someone Who Can is everything I love about this band. Growing up with Coheed & Cambria since the beginning I knew they would evolve into what they are now.
5 out of 5

Whoah whoah whoah, it's post-2010 and Coheed released a good album? Cautiously optimistic...

I'm settling at a 3.5 right now but can see this growing to a 4 for me. I don't think it reaches the highs that Coheed is capable of but a few songs come close. I think V1 and V2 have some stronger highlights but lower lows. This is really consistent throughout without songs I want to skip (though One Last Miracle is borderline) but I think the verses of some of these songs are just kind of meh to me rather than keeping me engaged the entire time.
IKSSE:3 > SSTB = GA1 > Ascension > NWFT > V3 > V2 = V1 > YOTBR > Descension > TCBTS for me.

It's def like a 3.75-3.8 yeah, largely because we've seen them do so much better.
Descension deserves to be higher for Pretelethal and Gravity's Union alone. The stronger tracks are on Asc for sure overall but I'm not rly getting the hate for the other half in comparison, I always pair them and never hit a point where I want to stop.
Otw not a bad ranking butI put SSTB=GA1>IKSSE these days. All 3 are pretty fantastic tho.

Can't go wrong with picking any of their first 3 as their best album. Gravity's Union has never done a lot for me as a song. I feel like I should like it more but I'm pretty lukewarm on it. Number City and Iron Fist were the only songs off Descension I really liked. The rest range from my most disliked songs by them to just eh. I try to return to it every once in a while to see if my opinions have changed but so far no luck.
