“They’ve totally lost whatever made them special 20 years ago. Not a bad band, there’s just no magic in these recent albums.”

I’m gonna prep myself with flame retardant and take it a step further and say this band was never special. They have been able to write occasional good choruses and or riffs, but they’ve always been pretty average 3-3.5 band for me. I never expect more or less

aojb is the major exception for me, but even that is still not really in the ballpark of my favorite core albums

The End of Heartache is the exception for me. That is one of my fav core albums ever. The others I've heard are good but not close to my favs.

Discordant Nation, Aftermath, The Fall of Us are highlights, the drumming rocks, I loved them embracing some different melodies in parts too

I'll have to check those out initially, I don't think I could stomach a beginning to end listen of this

None of their albums have ever resonated deeply with me whatsoever. Just certain songs/moments across the discog

Given that they’ve been at for over two decades, this album is great, how many of the metal from the 80s were pouring out comparable output in the 00s? And one could argue this is a much more demanding genre.
