Yeah, like I said Amber Waves is great. And so is Punish. A Punish/Amber Waves single could be understandable but the rest of the shit here is disposable. Amber Waves actually feels like a shorter track than 11 minutes. And then a shorter track like Onanist feels 15 minutes long. Idk how to describe it. Every song that isn’t those two feels way too long. And the long breaks of silence really don’t bring anything to the album either. Not really understanding how anyone can excuse a lot of the choices made here.

Haven't heard this yet and not sure what to expect. My favorite moments from Preacher's Daughter were the super weird and spooky ones like Ptolemaea.

If Preacher’s Daughter is a coming-of-age story that turns into a horror movie, this one is just a straight up horror film.

I’m glad to see Ptolemaea love tho, absolutely fucking devastating track and probably my favorite thing she’s ever done.

"amber waves is like straight up grouper-core to me in the best possible way. evil alien observer. decrepit, haunted southern shack alien observer"

OK now we're talking

half this thread can be summed up as people going into a record that was explicitly marketed as an ambient/drone mostly-instrumental album and then getting bummed it's exactly what it's advertised as

And classic tundra shitting on the album before he even listened to it, gets roasted for it, then changes his rating

he also posted a review on rym that looked like someone else wrote it because it didn't read like his writing style at all and then deleted it

along with changing his rating every two days which is a gimmick or whatever on here, but pretty pointless on a site like rym where no one knows who the hell he is amidst a usrbase that dwarves ours a hundred-fold

Tracks 1 and 3 are bad; starting the album with those was, a choice... The rest of the album is pretty decent, though, which I wasn't able to see cause I was so offended by this ones that blow ahrd. Punish is definitely a grower. Vacillator might also turn out to be a late bloomer. Onanist is actually pretty nice. I was also put off by massive lack of vocals throughout, but with those piano focused track, it does have that Ethel feel without having vocals.. Etienne feels a bit unnecessary with two piano-heavy songs so close together. Thatorchia has the best payoff and could have made a great closer. Amber Waves is okay, but it drags on a bit; the melodies are fine, but nothing super captivating. Either Pulldrone or Thatorchia would have been a better way to end things on a high note. Overall, it’d be great to see her explore something a bit more cohesive next time. She’s probably done with the Preacher's Daughter style, but I’m just hoping for a mix of coherence and darkness next time. Something like a darker version of Family Tree would be amazing.

If you cut out the fluff there’s about 20 minutes of actual songs here so that’s why it’s an EP. And I think we’re all aware of that and need to stop asking the question when we know the answer. I mean does anyone think “fuck! I need to listen to Pulldrone again? Or the title track”? There are only 2 here that I feel the need to revisit and their runtime is about 18 minutes combined.
