“Kiss Me Kiss Me might be his best effort in that dept?”
Possibly. Smith’s guitar play in The Kiss is among the all-time greats, just watch what he does here: https://youtu.be/asoW8YaE4VI

It's odd to think that a 2024 album will guide people towards their back catalogue but it's only a good thing.

I’m going to say it…this out-Blackstars Blackstar
Second most surprising comeback of the decade and second best album of the decade for me currently.
The Bathers was biggest surprise comeback and currently my album of the decade so far but that could yet change.

I'm still stuck in my Endsong phase. That track is unbelievable.

Yeah, I get a bit choked up listening to Endsong every damn time.

I enjoyed the record but I think the guitarist is trying way too hard to carry this for how uninspired and frankly unskilled he is.

Endsong is also my current favourite track here

Endsong is the clear highlight for me also. It almost renders the rest under-par, just by association

Bumping my score up to a 4.5. It took me a few focused listens, but this is likely in my top 10 of the year and could continue to grow even more. Seriously just gets better every time.

The Cure getting a 4.6 in 2024, what a time to be alive. Checking this out tonight! You've convinced me to listen to my very first Cure album in 34 years

S: Endsong
A+: Alone, I Can Never Say Goodbye
A: All I Ever Am
B: Warsong, A Fragile Thing
C: Drone:Nodrone, And Nothing Is Forever (is getting more rather than less cloying across repeats ngl)
don't think I'll bump my rating for now, but the top tier here really is the business. Blackstar was a much more exciting album for a number of reasons, every other song had something fresh to say in an unlikely voice (albeit the closing pair were birds of a feather); this spends most of its runtime hitting the same beats with varying degrees of success, to which end it does very well to end on a high (and it's a stupid comparison to begin with given that this is isn't a final album, sounds entirely different, and didn't emerge from a long period of studio inactivity like Blackstar)
