It’s the best album of the year within a legitimate genre that some people like, it’ll get hyped.
Why more hype than the new Pixies for example etc? It’s a better album.
Beyond that for this band themselves the album is a somewhat unexpected progression (their boldest and brightest), the vocals are still unique enough and have a certain charisma and authenticity, varied songs.
Their stock is high based on releasing three solid albums before this and having one of the best reputations for live performances out of mainstream ‘rock/indie’

2024 has been a great year for most every genre and alt rock was no exception: this, Wunderhorse and High Vis were all very enjoyable.
Pearl Jam, Smashing Pumpkins and Pixies didn’t shit the bed this time either, all serviceable.
