the eps as a combined album would probably only beat out new surrender tbh. pretty weak output outside like two songs maybe
lowborn is top three tho. aged very well

Literally every song on here is a banger imo save for the Matty tracks which imo are just average. Animals, Banshee, Nothing More, Lacerate, Circles, and Two Graves are all top 20 Anberlin tracks. I agree that the rollout and release of this album were lazy at best but the music itself is standard Anberlin fare with some of their heaviest tracks and crunchiest riffs to date

animals is awful lol. would be a contender for their worst song if not for the matty stuff

Yeah, have to agree with JM. I think if this dropped as an LP like this, we'd all be having a very different conversation about Anberlin right now:

@onionbubs i respect your opinion bro but Animals being contender for their worst song is the craziest take I've ever heard lol.

The lyrics to Animal are bad but the song itself is a ripper

@sowing i love your playlist man only thing I would change is I'd have Decoder right after Lacerate because the songs literally transition into each other and the abrupt cut off on Lacerate is jarring when they aren't back to back like they were on the EP.

Not crazy about either of Mullins songs on this, but I think High Stakes is solid. As long as the band can keep some good song writing chemistry they might be okay. One can hope at least.

Can believe they re recorded all of ntfp and matty butchered it that bad. It sounds like they just used the old tapes and didnt even record new instrumentals

Nah some of the drum parts in particular are different. Not much but slightly. The mixing is also different
Matty doesn't even sound bad per se, but he's just not Stephen and thus it's not Anberlin. He's irreplaceable to the sound of the band

He's decent replacement for Stephen as much as anyone can be, but yeah I have no interest in his re-recordings of the bands stuff

I have no interest in post-Stephen Anberlin tbh, IMO he was the band's identity.
That said, I feel like Vega was such a (1) squandered opportunity and (2) misunderstood record.
Sometimes I imagine I'm in a parallel universe where they released just the Stephen tracks and did so as an LP first. Truly believe those 10 songs would've been viewed as even better than Lowborn.

@sowing agreed. those 10 tracks would make one of their best records imo
