still gauging my rating but it's looking like a solid 3.0, Blue Reverie is the song that just works the best here so far lol, there's something grungy about it that I just vibe with

Really wanna like this. Listened all day today. So many good parts. As an album I hate to say it, it’s lacking. Love the Erra boys and this is a good album. But I’m a critic.

Some of these songs feel like ghost atlas tunes. Good stuff. I’m being a critic ass as I said.

This is definitely trading blows with Neon as the worst ERRA album for me

Neon is quintessential Erra at their worst. This is experimental-ish for them in a way that either is successful or kind of a failure depending on how you feel about what they tried.

Its produced by Spiritbox producer, theres so many similarities to Spiritbox on this thing, you can keep glazing if you want it's on you

nah its just being reductive for the sake of it. it really is only rumor of light, and even that still integrates the erra hallmarks enough for it to not be a 1 to 1 rip. also dan produces everyone now and his influence is mostly heard in the industro stuff here

the only other ones i can kinda hear it in are past life and glimpse but both feel like a stretch and jesse is aping ashe o'hara way more on the latter. end of that song has huge of matter vibes. nowhere to be found otherwise

If anything there’s also plenty of Northlane here with Blue Rev breakdown, Slow Sour, Crawl, and other industro elements they incorporated.

Maybe I’m using experimental as a bit of a misnomer. I’m not trying to suggest they did something new to music or even this genre but it’s different than what they’ve ever done before sans some similarities to Drift in aesthetic. Thats why people aren’t liking it lol

When hopping on a trendy sound is considered being experimental, wild.

Overall this was pretty good with some bangers (Idle Wild, Slow Sour Bleed, Pale Iris) but also a couple of song that just didn't quite hit the mark with me (Blue Reverie, Past Life Persona). I think I prefer it when the guitars are meaty & the vocals are powerful, the more reserved approach doesn't work as well.
