The production is some of the best ever on a dm album as are the vox and drumming and the riffs are some of the most pummeling of all time. Idk how Pika can 4.5 Slimelord (which is actual run of the mill dm) and 3 this I really don't lol.

The only active BDM bands I listen to consitently are Defeated Sanity, Devourment's Obscene Majesty (Slam oriented) and a bit of Cannibal Corpse every now and then. This album changed that for good. Band's whole discog is sick.

I'd say CC is def more brutal dm than anything. They're just more prototypical brutal dm. What is considered brutal dm has evolved for sure though.

Yeah CC is BDM but the term has evolved a lot like Hawks said. I'd argue that as technical death metal evolved it spawned a different approach to brutality. Even the lyrical content became more savant-like stuff.
