New album rips, but this is way better imo. At least for now.

Excess is suitably excessively & expectedly good buuuuuuut it's impact has plateaued somewhat on further inspection
early days, but this seems like it'll ultimately be the more enduring listen (as I keep coming back!)

It's interesting because while I think the new one brings in more influences than this did, it feels like those other genre influences are bringing it closer to traditional "western" (for lack of a better term) black metal whereas on this, with less competing influences, those Turkish folk melodies had more room to shine and stand out.
Both great albums but initial impressions are this one will remain on top and continue to age better.

yeah good take bear with pizza, as I certainly feel as tho the Turkish folk influence here is an essential facet of this one's fabric. The new album, as fun as it is, doesn't have the same identity despite brining a whole heap of new ideas to the table (arguably too many... but then it is called 'excess' after all!)
idk the guy clearly knew what he was going for and it's an impressively cohesive melding of styles (it could easily have been a complete mess) but I still prefer this

This one's influences definitely shine through a lot more. New one is just a really damn good dissoblack album with subtle folk-ish influences imo.
