Now just shufflin' through the states

Italy's little acoustic riff with the pedal steel in the background is so tasty
In terms of songwriting and arrangement it might be the most typical TMOE song here, but still a highlight I think

finally got around to this. wow, it's great. immediate stand outs: looking for love, slowly rivers turn, in your garden, goodbye (that guitar solo!)

How the hell is this average so low? This dude does nothing but make high quality music.

really good album. is all of the guitar playing on the album him? it’d be really impressive if that’s the case. getting heavy session/studio guitar kinda vibes from some passages tho

Album remains on steady rotation. This guy just doesn't miss. The run of the last four songs here (following In Your Garden Still, which is one of his weaker songs ever) has really been hitting the spot lately.

Extremely difficult for me to listen to TTMoE at this point; in part because my interest in folk music has waned, in part because he makes me feel a longing for a time that I can never go back to.
I did listen to this in full today and it does have its share of lovely moments. Every Little Heart is an absolute tune, Say Goodbye toes the line of his contemporary and classic sound very well, and the closing track.. closing track ripped my god damn heart out of my chest and threw it on the table.
Invited lovers, but just never very far
I kept the space for you, I wonder where you are
There's always fire on the foothills in my dream of you

I saw him live last weekend - kinda a wild and memorable show. He came out on stage sweatier than anyone I've ever seen and seemed drunk, but it ultimately turned out that the real culprit was that he'd barely slept in days by his own admission, leading to lots of half-manic rambling between songs. He still delivered the tunes very well, though, and with plenty of stage presence. Also, he has a live band now, so different vibe than when I saw him last year solo. Very good either way!

Yes I saw him recently too and I thought he was drunk haha. I found his stage presence a bit unhinged at first but he kind of calmed down after a bunch of songs. It was a great show in the end. There were 4-5 solo songs too.
For me the highlight was, surprisingly, Foothills

Huh, when I saw him in 2018 i thought quite the opposite. He commanded the stage like he’d been performing his entire life. Witty and charismatic between songs and all that. Incredible performance, truly. Sounds like he might be having a tough go of things :/

@colton it was very similar to that performance, but he moved around and interacted with the pianist a lot
I liked Foothills already but didn't know the song that well; it was just incredibly beautiful hearing it live as a quiet encore, like time suspended for a few minutes
Every Little Heart was amazing too

Enjoyed this when it came out, haven't returned to it much since. Will have to spin it again soon and see if it holds up.
