if more of this bands songs were as good as Heaven, Iowa I'd be a full blown fan. But alas...

Heaven Iowa is a huge tune agreed, severely underrated outside of this website.
Might have to listen to this again see if it's a 4 or not, didn't give it enough spins when it came out.
EDIT: Nah 3.5 is probably right, might even be a 3 though : (

Finally got to see FOB live recently. Honest to god one of the best live shows I've ever seen. They're rocking like it's the 2000s still. This album was a glorious return to form too, the tracks are incredible in a live setting (Heaven, Iowa especially was amazing)

Agreed about this album (have never seen 'em live), it's honestly one of the best things they've ever done. I'd say it's right on par with their Cork Tree/Infinity/Folie peak.

Hard agree. I love Save Rock and Roll and AB/AP, but this felt like the sequel to Folie we all had been waiting for.
That being said, there was 100% some of the theatrical flair from those later albums in here and it worked so well

All it took was a global pandemic and presumably multiple existential crises to get them back

does anyone else feel it like I do when these lines hit "I used to be a real go-getter / I used to think it'd all get better"

Lots of lovely lyrics but yeah those lead ins hit hard
“Ache it till you make it” also a choice lyric

Something about this album cycle just doesn't rub me the right way.
Maybe it's everything the album stands for? The insane promo for the record positioning the band as a voice of a generation when they abandon the genre when it's convenient?
The good stuff is really good, but I've never wanted to punch Pete Wentz in the face more.

Yeah, this album is the first all around good release from them since folie. A bit over the top calling it a return to roots or comeback release, but it is certainly the highest mark they have hit in quite awhile!
