Cygnus, they were considered extreme thrash metal when they first came out due to their speed and lyrical topics. I still to this day consider them to be an 'extreme' thrash band...I know very little bands that can match their intensity.

Dark Angel, old Kreator, and Hypnosia come to mind, but those are all bands from the extreme end of thrash, just like Slayer.

Hypnosia and old Kreator: Yes
Not so sure about Dark Angel...thrash they are, but I don't see them being as intense as Slayer. But come to think of it, an 'extreme' thrash genre is based more on opinion than anything.
Doesn't matter though. I love all of those bands.
