This album is so much better than the new Carly. It’s also better than Dedicated.

How do you like it compared to Taylor's other works? I'm not with the in crowd, so I don't know how people feel about it.

I think it’s a return to form after her last two albums but I realize I’m in the minority there

I know a lot of people really liked her last two albums. This one reminds me a bit of Lover. Would that be a fair comparison? I'm not entirely familiar with her songs. Just cursory listens.

Lover is a good comparison yeah. That album has grown on me a lot since I reviewed it. People keep comparing it to Reputation because of the lyrics but sonically it’s only like a few Rep songs

Certainly beats spinning this again, that's for sure.
No offense to Tay-Tay meant. It's just not my thing.
@ Sowing Have you ever seen her live? Her live shows look wild.

Oh wow. That's pretty trippy. Did you get a sense back then that she would eventually become the superstar she is now?

That's mad! Pretty cool connection. It must be fun in a way to follow her career when you have that knowledge of her career before it blossomed.

Reputation continues to grow on me the most out of any of her albums

Lmfaooooo no
This album is so stale it hurts

Reputation is also very meh, you will not convince me to listen to that thing again
She found gold with Folklore/Evermore and then decided to make an album that sounds like a diluted 1989 with lyrics as awful as Rep

@Sowing There may in fact exist a timeline where you and Tay-Tay are best mates.
I haven't listened to Reputation but I do remember one of the singles had a bit of attitude.

In hindsight Dedicated was the beginning of the end for CRJ

"I do remember one of the singles had a bit of attitude"
Yeah Taylor tried to put on this new "omg I'm such a bad girl" persona and it would have worked if there was actually interesting dark production, but most songs on there are just plain boring

I suppose I wouldn't really expect Tay-Tay Swifteroo to go very dark. There's a presumed safety-net that comes with much of this pop music where I'm not anticipating something really shocking unless it's expressed in music video imagery.

I had to do a double take when I heard her say "fuck" more than once

The Reputation music videos were pretty good, the music was not

The first time she cursed, yeah! I think I read a comment over on the Steve Hoffman forum that was like "I can't listen to this now."
@AmericanFlagAsh I don't really remember the video that well. I've seen it but I recall it certainly matched the new attitude the song was going for.

apparently the whole “Taylor is fatphobic” narrative is gaining a lot of traction now which is pretty hilarious and probably more entertaining than the album itself
