This reminded me a bit of American Football's last album, but it's been a while since I've heard it so I might be way off the mark. I dig the overall sound but find it hard to sit through an entire album's worth. They commited to a style and nailed the sound though, and some of the songs are incredible. I really loved Blessing and Curses, Chalk Dust, When The Oceans Ran Dry and To The Touch

blessings and curses is the most 3rd song on an album to have ever been a 3rd song on an album. this makes a lot of sense in my head

Heard the first five tracks off this in the morning commute. Can't say I'm the biggest fan but I enjoyed Blessings. The vocal harmonies are great.

Will check the rest today if I'm not too sleepy in the afternoon.

This reminds me a lot of early Turnover, Peripheral Vision especially. Beautiful record, YoYo.

Anyone else find the back half of Capo 1 to be an incredibly underrated moment here? I love the change in melody during the last rendition of the chorus.

Capo 1 was definitely one of the most gratifying songs to create on here. The whole thing felt like we were daring ourselves to create a directionless mess, but I think it fits together really nicely

Ironically, I think it's one of the most dynamic songs here. If you didn't reveal that it was a hodgepodge of ideas, I never would have known. It just flows really well.

Also, I know I've gone on at length about the huge emotional payoff at the conclusion of To The Touch, but the build up is just as good. I really dig the swaying vocal melody...feels so sad, hopeless, and intimate.

Also, the line "all that I want is to not be seen" on Chalk Dust is a great one. There are so many amazing lyrics on this album that I feel like I'll never be able to talk about all of them in as much depth as I'd like to.

Haha. Don't mind me I'm just butthurt. I'm glad you gave it a shot. This is one of my favorite albums of the 2020s. I love this band's overall vibe and in my opinion they haven't made a mediocre song yet.

I can see there being an audience for this. It's not unpleasant to listen to. There's just no edge to this, nothing for me to grab onto. As soon as the songs were over they were gone and forgotten.
