This really does sound like Lana doing slowcore lol. Not too into it but I might show it off to my gf cuz I'm tired of her playing Lana Del Rey.

First listen now and this is exactly my feeling.



Also the more subtle and less histrionic she is the better, I'd say 'Gibson Girl' is the peak for her being subtle and maybe my favourite song here (the backing is also more mood based too which helps). Or maybe the effects on her vocals make me like them more?



Is she better than Lana del Rey. At her best Lana is better imo, but at her worst she's worse :/



Musically I don't know, not sure I totally like all the ingredients here - again the more subtle the better with the style she's gone for I think. The middle of the album is decent though.

Alright, that’s about as cool of a Doof take as I could have hoped for (hoped for more but was afraid of much worse) so I’ll accept it, glad you seemed to generally enjoy or at least not dislike. Really didn’t expect “Gibson Girl” as your highlight though, interesting. I do think she is the proverbial grower so hope you do try it a couple more times.

My feeling is if the album was all like tracks 4-8 this would have been a 3.5 for me...if all like tracks 2-3 I'd have struggled going as high as a 2.5

I’ve 3’d your 5s/AOTYs before so I can’t much complain if you stick there.

3-7 (and possibly 12-13) is the range I expected you to get along with most so I’m glad I was mostly right there. Wasn’t sure about 9-11, those could’ve gone either way. Figured “Gibson Girl” would be low though as well as “American Teenager.”

I just thought “You wanna fuck me right now” would be an complete turn-off. That one might be the strongest/most interesting instrumentally/compositionally though so I get it.

Well, I mean in and of itself '“You wanna fuck me right now”' doesn't have to be a turn-off :D



But yeah, it has to ring right otherwise it would stick out badly - I think it works. The more Lingua Ignota 'channeling the demons' track after is...not awful, the scream for me is a bit unnecessary actually in that I find the track more disturbing and authentic sounding before that but it's ok.
